I'm back on-Board! On the .NET Foundation Board of Directors
Hello everyone! I’m excited to share some wonderful news with you all - I’ve been elected to the .NET Foundation Board of Directors. Those of you that know me, know it’s my second time, and that I’ve been active on the nomination committee for the last few years.
Throughout my career as a developer, speaker, and advocate, I have always been passionate about the .NET ecosystem and its potential to empower developers to create incredible software. Over the years, I’ve engaged with the community in various ways, such as through writing, speaking at conferences, and organizing events. These experiences have been incredibly rewarding, but I’ve often felt that there is still more that I can do. Being elected to the .NET Foundation Board of Directors presents me with the opportunity to make an even greater impact on the community. By working closely with other board members and the Foundation, I hope to help guide the .NET ecosystem in a direction that benefits developers, supports open source projects, and fosters a strong, collaborative community. But there is a second reason as to why I wanted to join the board again. Diversity and representation. I’m a woman with a background in health and clinical nutrition, a mum of two small but loud kids, and an average developer. Good on a great day, but mostly I’d say I’m pretty darn average and I’m sure as a toddler in a candy store that my open-source contributions have not changed the world. And we need people like me on the board, among those awesome OS heroes and code veterans at the front lines. Although the .NET community has made strides in recent years, diversity and inclusivity remain significant challenges. I believe that a more diverse and inclusive environment can lead to better ideas, collaboration, and ultimately, better software. As a member of the Board of Directors, I am determined to tackle these issues head-on. Or as much as I can. Some things take time, but I’m impatient which can be a strength, or weakness (as evident by my kids who have inherited that trait).
I am truly grateful for the support and encouragement I have received from the community along the way, and I hope to make you proud.
If you have any ideas, suggestions, or questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I am always eager to learn and collaborate with you all. Here’s to a bright future for the .NET community!
