(Not so) Stupid Question 317: What is Kusto?

I recorded this video on NYE, but underestimated how challenging newborn-logistics could be. Finally found some time to set up my office at home, and get some blogging done. Pew!

When I was 7 months pregnant, I recorded the same question, but never uploaded the video. At the time Kusto wasn’t officially the name of the query language used for Application Insights. Originally Kusto was the project name for the editor/workspace and the language, and the language was referred to as Azure Log Analytics Query Language.

If you head over to the documentationyou can see that this has changed, and Kusto is used instead, with queries referred to as Kusto queries. Kusto is a service AND a language.
