Windows Store not working: error code 0x80072ee2
A short but helpful post. A recent update for Windows changed a few things, among them was setting the manual proxy to on. This has for me at least resulted in an error code 0x80072ee2 whenever I try to access the Store. Sometimes I can peek a little bit, but then it returns the error code and says the Windows Store cannot be accessed or there was a problem reaching the server.
Go Settings => Network => Proxy in the Modern UI mode and try turning the manual proxy of.
windows store not working
windows store not working2
If that doesn’t help try the previous solution I wrote , turning it off and on. Run this in elevated (admin) mode in PowerShell:
net stop wuauserv
net start wuauserv

I tried turning the manual server off, but the moment I left, it turned itself back on again. Turning on "automatically detect settings" didn't help either. Any suggestions?

Hi Iris - very useful post but unfortunately neither solution works for me. In fact, it is impossible to set the proxy server to off as there is no facility to save the change - unless, of course - you chose the automatic options. I did, at one time, remove all of the values which enabled me to set Proxy to off but a restart put everything back as was. Very strange. It is also impossible to set Proxy to off using IE options - it simply and immediately gets set back to on. Very strange and very frustrating.

I am having the same problem as Michael above. I keep turning it off, and it will turn itself back on after a moment or two. When I do turn it off, the option to save goes away so I am not able to save the changes.

THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA! While mine wasn't with the "manual proxy server" it was with the server as a whole. I went into the settings as you described, and under proxy there was a "automatically detect settings" under "use a proxy server". I turned that off and BAM, Store immediately worked, and my "Outlook settings are out-of-date" errors in mail immediately vanished. Apparently Win 10 doesn't like proxy servers.... hm....

I tried all these steps including in admin shell commands. I was given this message from admin shell "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it." I still cannot use microsoft store. Any advice is welcome.
