Name change rumours, is 'Metro' out and Windows 8-style UI in?

No more Metro? Windows 8-style UI instead? Hmmmm

According to several newssites the term Metro that has been used to describe the new design for Windows might be thrown out and replaced by “Windows 8-style UI”. The rumours are based on a legal dispute with the german retailer Metro AG. People are already discussion if the name change is a wise more or not and how it will affect the launch. Rumours have it that Metro as a term for the new design is now banned, and that new name will be used instead from now on. Whena sked about the Metro name Microsoft ahd replied:

“We have used ‘Metro style’ as a code name during the product development cycle across many of our product lines. As we get closer to launch and transition from industry dialog to a broad consumer dialog we will use our commercial names.”

I’m quite curious how this will go,- and even if there will be a name change I reckon the term Metro style will stick with people and we might instead have two names for the design instead. How do you think this will affect Microsoft and the planned releases? And how will the new name be welcomed?

Seems rather silly to me. It's not like Metro is new with Windows 8; I thought it debuted with Windows Phone 7, which was what, two, maybe more years ago?

They had to change the name cause of the Metro Group, who has the copyright of the name ;)
