Restaurant rip-offs: Half an onion soup for 125 kr (18 dollars)
at Bishops Arms , Göteborg - Swden Yesterday I went out to dinner with my husband’s colleagues to have something delicious to eat. Being in the midst of the week we opted for something not that pricey, and not that fancy. A British pub seemed like a good idea. We went to Bishops Arms on Avenyen, Gothenburg Sweden. Now here is the funniest thing ever: HALF, yes – half, an onion soup costs 125 kr or 18 dollars.
half an onion soup for 125 kr??? This soup is made with broth, onions (about 1 onion a portion) and cheese and some bread. The cheapest ingredients in Sweden! So for half an onion, cheap cheese and white loaf you pay an hours’ worth of salary.
you have to take pictures of your food (after relocating to Chez Ami) At the restaurant across the street you could get a nice steak with vegetables and potatoes and a nice sauce as well for the same price. My favorite part was still the fact that “according to British traditions they had no waiters” and you have to order at the bar. Needless to say we went somewhere else to eat.
